Cabaret Unkempt

A one-hour multimedia performance in collaboration with Jennylin Duany and Elizabeth Doud of Las Negras Performance Ensemble, this work ecompasses theatre, experimental movement, dance, video, 16mm film and 35mm slide projections onto the performer’s body, and hand-manipulated overhead projections to address issues of race, size, class and body image. This work premiered at the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts in Miami and toured nationally and internationally to such venues as the Brick Theatre in Brooklyn, NY, Diverse Works in Houston, TX, and the National Performance Network Annual Conference. A Spanish version of the work then toured through major theater venues in El Salvador and Honduras. Music and sound design by Ricardo Lastre.
