History House
History House is a multimedia dance piece by Nu Flamenco (Guitarrist José Luis Rodríguez and dancer Niurca Márquez) performed at Harris House, a historical site in the small rural town of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The piece addresses the history of this small town, a southern enclave with a history of settlers from the island of Minorca and centuries of racial tension that included the infamous Seminole Wars. The piece includes live music and dance, along with a series of videos and an installation in the Harris House sunroom. This installation is a day-int0-night piece that utilizes that movement of sunlight through the space during the course of the day. At night the piece is illuminated by tiny LED candles inside the glass sculptures that make up the installation.
